Welcome from the Library staff

Karen Shaffer

Hello! My name is Karen Shaffer. I am a Senior Library Clerk at the Evans Library here at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. I assist patrons with questions, loans of materials and electronic devices as well as our reserve collection. I also train and supervise our Student Library Aides.

The Evans Library is a great place to work. We offer our Student Library Aides opportunities to interact with student patrons, community borrowers and staff with varied duties. Your employment will provide valuable work experience to begin building your resume. You will become familiar with all of the research resources that we have to offer (which can come in handy for your own assignments as well!)

We offer flexible shifts scheduled around your classes. No experience is necessary, but you must have a basic familiarity with computers and the Windows environment. Employment preference will be given if you have successfully completed CIS105 and/or demonstrate excellent computer skills. Second-year/transfer student(s) and those with a 2.5 GPA or higher in a previous semester are preferred.

If you are interested in working with us, please visit our website: or stop in the library. I will be happy to answer your questions!
