SOC235-Professional Ethics in a Diverse Society

Research - It's a Process

First, get background information.

  • Do an internet search (Wikipedia is ok here).
  • What are the major subtopics?
  • What are some keywords when the topic is discussed?
  • Who, what, when, where, why, and how?

Second, focus your topic.

  • Use the background information and knowledge you've gained.
  • What specifically do you want to concentrate your research on?
  • Write a research question or thesis statement.
  • Who, what, when, where, why, and how (again).

Third, research.

  • What information do you need?
  • How much information do you need?
  • Where will you look?
  • Give yourself time.
